Hey everyone! I wanted to share a few pics from one of my latest weddings. I always have so much fun doing makeup for weddings. I enjoy helping the brides transform and helping them look their very best on their wedding day.
The lovely bride above was going for a a very sophisticated look for her wedding. During the bridal preview, when we try out the look for the wedding day, I made sure to check out the pictures that she found displaying the type of look she was going for. We did a different look for the preview that was more towards the glamour side, but once we got towards the day of her wedding, the lovely bride decided that she wanted more of a natural look.
I had no problem complying to her wishes. I actually love doing "clean beauty" makeup (as they call it in the industry). Click here to check out my "clean beauty" portfolio on my other website. It is full of similar looks that are naturally enhancing the woman's features. I made sure to repeat back to her the exact changes in her look that she was going for, and then I proceeded to apply her makeup.
I used an eyeshadow pigment for the color on her mobile lid. I have one that is a pretty pink/gold iridescent shade that I love to use on brides. I used eyelashes that had a slight flare on the edges to give her a little definition. I only slightly corrected her eyebrows with pencil and brow color so that I mostly kept her natural shape. I used a lipstick color close to the natural color of her lips and I only barely applied an iridescent pink blush that I love to use on brides. I also contoured her face so that her skin would have depth.
We agreed upon using airbrushed makeup for her bridal makeup look. Airbrush makeup has so many advantages! A few of them are listed below:
1. it can be anywhere from light to full coverage, depending on how you apply it. So that makes it suitable for a wide range of skin types.
2. The airbrush makeup comes out of the gun and onto the face in a spray-dot pattern. Have you ever used a can of spray paint? Airbrush foundation applies in the same way. It basically blends as you put it on. Sometimes when I mix an exact match to the person's face, my naked eye actually can't tell that the foundation is on. The skin just starts looking better as I apply.
3. Airbrush foundation feels really light. You don't really feel it on your skin. It is"breathable"...the person ends up looking better without feeling made up.
My brand of choice for this bride was the almighty Temptu. Temptu really helps to provide a flawless finish. It is also extremely long wearing. I use an extra setting spray as "insurance" on the foundation to make sure it lasts all day, but Temptu really doesn't need it.
This brand is basically the industry standard when it comes to airbrush makeup. You can custom blend any color. I actually used three different foundation colors to come up with this bride's look (including a color adjuster).
There is definitely a level of skill involved in matching the skin as well as using the gun and applying the makeup successfully. But once I learned this, airbrushing has truly been a joy. It is something that I really enjoy pulling out of my bag of tricks.
In the end, we were both very pleased with the makeup look that we came up with. She looked amazing and from the looks of it, her wedding was going to be quite amazing also.
